We had arranged to do this section of the Skye coastline several years ago for Docs birthday, unfortunately the weather had other ideas making rivers impassable. So we tried again on Docs birthday and the weather was not going to stop us this time.

We parked the van up and headed out towards Ollisdal Bothy, a 15 km hike following the coastline.

It was a late start but we eventually made it to the Bothy after a very wet and windy walk.

We were very grateful to find supplies for the fire and we set about drying our wet gear, we would have welcomed a washing line and it wasn’t until the following day that it was pointed out that i had several meters of cord wrapped around my trekking poles D’oh.

We were contemplating having an extra night in the bothy but the amber weather warning for storm Amy made our minds up that we had to crack on back to the van which included a 17km hike along the coast, We found a cafe open in Glendale which was very welcome because storm Amy had brought strong winds and heavy rain, i even got blown off my feet at one point.
After dripping all over the floor of the cafe we had a 13km walk back to the van, firstly along roads with big puddles and then off road and nearly drowning in unexpected streams.

After driving on flooded roads in the dark we decided to park up in a parking area and stay the night in the van.

After finding coffee we had a bit of a drive around Skye to have a look at other sections of the Skye 360 route before heading back to the Docs house to see out Storm Amy.

Once the storm had passed we had a walk exploring the Frank Bruce sculpture park at Feshiebridge, a really sunny day in complete contrast to the previous days.
